How can we live in a world
So manipulated and unaware?
We wander around like blind sheep
Being led by a horrible, backwards, illiterate shepherd,
Herded off to fight a war that isn’t our own.
What has happened to the days of
Rebellion? Free love and peace?
What happened to the years
When people thought for themselves?
Fought for themselves?
Taught others what it meant to be a visionary.
The only visions we see now are visions
Implanted by those who want us to see the things they believe,
See nothing but the straight and narrow,
Hear nothing but propaganda.
Have we been so acculturated to believe everything
The media tells us? Agree blindly to whatever we are told?
We are caught in a world of doublespeak,
A new millennium 1984.
The founding fathers are rolling over in their graves,
Face down, six feet under, not watching anymore.
It’s the war that’s killing our souls,
And the so-called leaders facilitating the horror.
But are we screaming anymore?
