1. Harmony 1000 Remote

You can get the box from $100 for a standard Dual Tuner unit or $300 for a High Definition Tivo. There is a monthly service fee, but they have been reduced for new customers until February. You can even prepay for a year and save some money. All he has to do is tell the TiVo what shows he wants it to record and the TiVo will actually record similar shows that he may enjoy as suggestions. Shows may also be transferred to a laptop so that he can watch them on business trips.
